Jägermeister Blooms for Spring

by Justine Santaniello

Jägermeister, the well-known shot brand, is blooming this spring with refreshing craft cocktail recipes you need to try!

I was willing to give the brand another shot and try out the grown-up side of Jägermeister. How could one of my go-to’s back in college thrive in artisanal cocktail recipes? Thanks to Sother Teague, acclaimed bartender for Amor y Amargo, I was easily convinced. He created spring inspired cocktails to highlight the complex 56 ingredients of Jägermeister including herbs, roots and fruits. Better yet, you can purchase bar tools at Amor y Amargo so you can try and re-create Sother’s cocktails at home.

German Vacation
1 oz Jägermeister
1 oz Flor de Caña 4-year gold rum
.75 oz Ginger Syrup
.75 oz Orgeat
.75 oz Lemon Juice
Heavy dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
Shake with a few pebbles. Pour over fresh pebble ice in a swizzle glass. Mound more on top like a snow cone and “paint” with Peychaud’s. Ahoy!

Stag’s Leap
1.5 oz Jägermeister
1.5 oz sweet vermouth
3 dashes of Devils Larder root beer bitters
Pour all ingredients into a Collins glass and fill with ice cubes. Top with seltzer.

Precision Timepiece
1.5 oz Jägermeister
.75 oz Amaro Montenegro
.75 oz Aperol
2 dashes of DeGroff’s pimento bitters
Stir over plenty of ice strain into a Rick’s glass filled with ice. Orange twist.
